History of the Centre
A group of parents identified the need for a childcare service in their local community, and initially operated from a front veranda of a house along Beach Road, Kingston Beach. It is unknown which year this occurred, but there are unconfirmed reports this service may have started operating from 1974.
Kingston Child Care Association (KCCC) Inc was formally founded in 1976 and is a not for profit, community based early education and care service. Since 2011 the Centre has operated as Kingston Beach Educational Care (KBEC), adding the trading name of Kingston Beach Early Learning Centre (KBELC) in 2016. The Legal owner and the entity for all business dealings of the Service is the KBELC Association which is made up of a volunteer Management Committee consisting of parents whom utilise the centre as well as approved community members.
The Service rented and operated out of this premise, 46 Beach Road Kingston Beach, for a short period of time before purchasing the land and building in April 1976, prior to forming the Association in May the same year. The Service was initially licensed for just 25 children. KBEC has grown and evolved, with many changes and additions to the building and grounds during its lifetime to where it is today; educating and caring for 81 children aged 0-5, with a strong reputation of high quality care in our local community.
